Visitors!!!

Guess who's excited. It's me. haha.

JOSH AND ERIN COME TOMORROW!

woooohoooooo.....get ready for some serious pics. We dont' really have anything special planned, I'm sure we'll come up with something to do while they're here. They will be spending some time with Josh's fam who also lives in St. Joe and Grand Rapids, and they'll be in Chicago for 4 days...other than that, while Ryan's at work, Erin and I will go shopping and Josh can spend time catching up with the two boys all by himself! Hahahaaaaaaa just kiddin jishy. (That was his one request- don't give him two at once.) All I'm gonna say is it could have been (still could be) Erin that had twins. lookout. Apparently it's in the fam. =)

Ry will be home anytime, better get some food goin!

to all my readers.....

the ending devotion from my ladies study on Matthew 13...

Father, protect me from the evil one. Keep me from spiritual indifference and shallowness. Make me aware and intolerant of worldly attitudes. Give me an ever-deepening desire to receive your word with great eagerness. May it take root deeply in my soul so that I bear lasting fruit for your glory!

Yah for Friday!

You know, even though I don't work, I still feel the stress of the work week, possibly due to Ryan having to be gone most of the day M-F...who knows really. But I'm glad it's friday...actually I'm glad when it's Monday too (contrary to most working individuals) because our weekends are usually packed full of fun things and people to visit, so Monday means a chance to catch back up on the house and try to get the boys back to the norm- the crib.. as opposed to everyone's arms. That sounds bad like I don't hold my sons. Oh I do...just not ALL day. =)

Speaking of holding...recently they've taken to staying awake longer during the day...being 10 weeks old I see how that could be appropriate, but seriously. They are very different in their awake times. Let's take an inside look...

Ethan is more than happy to just chill on the floor or in a special seat and observe. everything. for a long time. He's really into ceiling fans, patterns, and anything over his shoulder. Also spit bubbles. He's the guy that gets tired and tries to force himself to stay awake cause he might miss something. He is also stiff as a board, really hard to hold cause he arches his back (possible gymnastic career??)...he loves to be standing up...yes he does hold his own weight, all 9 pounds of himself, and has for quite some time now. just hold his arms up and he's a happy camper. When he's done being entertained by any of the above, he'll let you know...move him and you just bought yourself another 5-10 minutes. His crying face is absolutely hilarious...his bottom lip goes WAY out and down, and he holds that pose for a few second and then lets out a slow wail. hahahaaa. So funny.

Garrett on the other hand is the cuddler. Round, rollypolly, chub-o...let's just say he likes his food. He is about 10 pounds of little boy. Loves to be held. He also likes his sleep. This is what his body language tells me, "Maybe pick me up and we'll see if I'll fall asleep while you're holding me, but if you put me down too soon, you'll have to start over from the beginning." He could be crying for a while, pick him up and instantly he's fine and looking around checkin out the room. Faker. He's not as interested in checking things out as Ethan, but he's getting there. Recently he's taken to spitting up after meals, only if his diaper gets changed too soon...laying flat after food= you might wear a bit of his food when he sits back up. But he doesn't do that all the time, maybe like 5 times total now. Glad I don't have spitters. Not fun. He also likes to store up his poop and then BOMB after a few days and blowout his diap all over his outfit. that's happened the last two poops. Awesome. And the smell is SO terrible. So really it's a guessing game when it's gonna happen next. Should be any time now....what was really great was last Sunday when they both blew thru their outfits...of course not at the same time, E in the afternoon and G right before bed. Sweet.

At any rate, we love discovering their differences and are excited to see how they transition into the days of staying awake longer....I spose it has to happen sometime. =) It just gets a bit tiring right now cause they can't play with little rings or small soft things yet, they just wanna be where there's a good view. But we still love it and are very thankful for the little dudes.

I hope everyone has twins. =) (There's the outfit E bombed thru)

Here they are celebrating Grandpa Joe's 60th bday on Tuesday.

ALSO, in even more EXCITING news, my brother-in-law has RETURNED HOME from IRAQ!!!! Couldn't be more excited. Josh came in Tuesday night and has a few days of work before he has 2 weeks off, and he and Erin are comin up here for those two weeks and he will meet the boys!! (they have a special outfit for such a time as this-you will see pictures I'm sure.) We are counting down the days until next weekend!!

My Three Loves....

Happy Valentines Day! Love Love Love. I'm a little late, but who says love is for only one day of the year. Also, I didn't get a chance to give a shout out to Mr. Aaron Davis of somewhere east for his very mile-stoneish 24th birthday. Hope it was great!!!

Here are some more recent ones...sooooo cute. Seriously, pics don't do em justice for those of you who haven't seen em live yet. =)

awwwww little E. so funny.

and now some fame for lil G... =)

here are the brothassss

and let's end with one of Ethan on the pot. hahaha...or sitting on our beautiful coasters from Africa (thanks Bama!) might be the funniest one of all...maybe the funny part was the conversation ABOUT Ethan on the pot. =) until next time....

New Tricks!

Garrett smiles when we do!!! wooo hooo! awwwwww man it's so funny. Giant gummy smile, and then he sticks his tongue out and it might turn into a yawn, but he's smiling! Could be gas, or a post-meal happy face. Ethan still stares back at us with his furrowed brow. There are many pictures of that. It's crazy how silly you can make your face and do weird things right in front of em and they'll just stare right back like 'what the heck, you crazy woman.' But maybe that's why they stare back...cause we look so ridiculous. hmmm...anyways, no rhyme or reason, just happy sometimes. And of course you can't catch that on film cause it happens so quick and we have a camera-saurus. Maybe when Aunt Erin comes to visit we'll get some good ones- actually I'm sure of it.

Sorry for those of you who have facebook, these are some repeats. Some of my favs though. who am i kiddin, they're all my favs. =) BUT, I was planning on bringing the cam to put some newer ones up that are hilarious. Dang it. Seems like I can't ever get it together. Someone asked me what a day in the life of Martha looks like...I'll do my best.

5:30-6:30am, wake up to crying kid(s), sometime in there, recently been closer to 6:30...change some diaps, feed em, hang out for 30 min or so with the lights on, music in the background, maybe some reading, and of course food...for me. =)

Post wake-time, put the boys back in the crib, go hang out with Ry while he gets ready for work, get him breakfast or pack his lunch or both. Or neither. Depends on the boys.

7:40, Ry leaves, go back to bed.

Maybe an hour later, wake up to crying kid(s). Change butts, feed em. Hang out...hold em up while they stand on their own feet (of course not both at a time, I"m not that good yet). Maybe one in the swing, hold one...switch about every 5 min.

They start gettin tired and yawning, back in the crib they go, giving me a good 2 hours to hang out late morning. repeat eat, play, sleep three times and then Ryan is home.

Some activities for their nap time may include personal reading, laundry (usually) a long shower, maybe another nap, cooking for the evening, straightening the apartment up, writing thank yous or just 'hello' letters, computer time, and hopefully soon, the internet. It's pretty easy to fill that time up.

Pretty much every night we have something going on...meeting with this couple, bible study, stuff for Ry's work, games, grandparents, hang out with other friends...we come up with something every night....maybe that's why we're tired?

Come home around 9:30-10 to feed them the last time before bed, hang out with em while they're alert and happy and super cute, then about an hour later, put em in the crib and shut the door. They might cry for a few minutes but then they pass out until the morning and it starts all over again. Love every minute of it. I see their faces even when they're not in front of me and it makes me smile cause they're so dang CUTE!!

Something to leave you with....in our ladies bible study thursday mornings we are going thru a Max Lucado book on Matthew...this question really made me think and so I will pass it on to you all for reflection as well...

when was the last time you showed genuine compassion? Remember, God knows your heart, so make sure there's a motive check in there. Hope it's not too hard to come up with something!! =)
